The Importance of Setting Goals

A good friend told me that within the last couple of weeks the most depressing day of the year pops up.  Some say it falls on the Monday, some say it falls on a specific day; the bottom line is that it falls somewhere in there.  So if you’re feeling a little low around that time, now you know why.

But I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again: it doesn’t have to be that way.

Some say the reason that this time of year leads to a lack of fulfillment is because many have let their resolutions that they made only a few weeks before fall by the wayside.  The dull weather plays a part, too.  Oh, and let’s not forget the post-holiday credit card bills that fill your mailbox….and empty your wallet.

The Value of the Weekend

Oh, how we all long for the weekend. There’s a certain buzz in the air once Wednesday passes by (ergo, we’re over the hump) and in the home stretch of what is known as “The Work Week.”

Well, to some of us anyway.

There are, however, those who work hard and play…er…occasionally. The cubicle is not necessarily everyone’s work environment, nor is a 9 to 5 schedule everyone’s to adhere to. Schedules can be static or fluctuate, often depending on the type of work but there is also the likelihood that it is the person themselves that dictates the work day—and work habits.

Blog Action Day 2009: How to Change the Climate in Your Workplace

Today is Blog Action Day, and this year’s focus is on Climate Change. Now it would be easy for me talk about climate in the sense of what the overall “climate” is like in your workplace, but I’m pretty certain that isn’t what this initiative is about (but it would be quite clever). Truth be told, there is a direct correlation between being productive and being environmentally conscious – and the fact that the word “action” is in the title of this very worthy cause lends itself towards productivity as well.
