After a two week break, the WorkAwesome podcast returns featuring an interview with Michael Sliwinski, creator of Nozbe and founder of Productive Firm.
Nozbe is a cloud-based tool that Sliwinski designed for his own personal use at first, but released it to the public a few years back and has been growing steadily ever since. It was one of the first well-known productivity web apps, and has since been incorporated into mobile apps for the iPhone and iPad to allow you to keep getting things done even when you’re on the move.
Productive Firm is the hub where you can find Productive Magazine and The Productive Show. Productive Magazine has been around for well over a year now, and features articles and interviews with productivity experts from around the world. I’ve been enjoying the podcast, but especially enjoyed this interview with Michael Sliwinski. I’m not sure that I’m ready to delve into Nozbe or any similar apps, but his energy and excitment about his work are contagious. Thanks for sharing that.
Nozbe is one of the only truly good GTD web apps. Thanks to javascript, it feels super responsive. It doesn’t feel exceptionally slow compared to the desktop GTD apps.
HOWEVER, the actual site design still needs work. The non-app pages on the site are poorly laid out- lots of clutter and ugly graphics. All pages (including those for the app) use a really ugly shade of green- kind of like snot.
I wish they would go with something more neutral and professional (and hence, less distracting) like slate grey. Other GTD apps like OmniFocus, Things, and Nirvana look way better and have more core functionality, but Nozbe has far superior integration options (Google Calendar, Evernote, and mobile access for Android)
Workawesome. Good buzzword. We use http://www.dooster.net which does by the way have a sensible shade of grey and blue and has totally transformed the way we work. I suppose it is awesome comparing the whole scene in the office after dooster.net saved us as opposed to before when business had got to the really good stage where it was humming but we were buzzing around madly and starting to lose it because we needed a productivity tool to get us together. That was a couple of months ago. We didn’t have time to look at everything on offer but Nozbe was one we perused and it was attractive. Somehow we went with Dooster.net and we are so pleased.
I LOVE Nozbe… the three little circles in the top right corner control the color green, blue, gray… i like the green now but it took some getting used to
