Entrepreneurial Ideas for Spring

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” ~W. H. Murray

Entrepreneur (or “to undertake”) is a French word that in the business world means to “start a business”. Let spring be the time to start executing that new idea that’s been at the back of your mind. Whether it’s a new way to generate revenue with an existing business or it’s a new business venture altogether it could bloom into something unimaginable.

For Existing Businesses

Newsletters, e-mail campaigns, and more. Generating a continuous pool of loyal customers is a lot of work, but it is rewarding when it pays off. Finding new ways to reach new prospects is key in order to keep up with the competition. Being able to have constant contact with your customers and prospects alike is imperative which is why data mining is so important to your business. Anytime you are able to get contact (or other) information from your clientele, get it. This enables you to implement a drip marketing campaign that will help keep business alive if you use it properly and never abuse it.

Participate in a new spring promotion with a local media company. Working with the media can be fun, especially radio. If you can budget for it, spring is a great time to get in. People are bored with being holed up from winter so any opportunities you get to get involved in crowd generating activities like live broadcasts, tradeshows, and more, just do it.

For New Businesses

Spring is a time of freshness and a new business idea brought to fruition could be a profitable thing if you take the time to fully vet the idea before you try to execute it.

Ask yourself…

  • Why do I want to start a business?
  • Who will my service/product benefit?
  • How will they benefit?
  • Who else does what I do?
  • What will I do differently?
  • Do I have the finances for a start-up?

If all of your answers were positive and there is a market for what you have to offer, then take action on it.

Spring into action and get ‘er done!

Look into bank rates and consultants. The Small Business Administration can be a great resource. Do your research. Not just on your product or service, equally (or more) important is doing research on your prospective customer as well as the licensing requirements for your location. If you are really ready then you need to register your business and line up any permits you need. Be sure to also purchase any domain names that will go with it.

Spring is symbolic for new starts and a start-up could be just the thing to jump-start your new career path. Being an entrepreneur can be rewarding and the ability to think creatively and critically is admirable. Now the challenge comes in doing. As Nike would say it, Just do it now!
