Exclusive Holiday Giveaway: 52 Weeks to Awesome

It’s time for our second holiday giveaway, this one offered up by The Connection Revolution. It’s a slot in their upcoming 52 Weeks
to Awesome
course.

This course is going to last for — you guessed it — 52 weeks and each participant will take baby steps on a week-by-week basis to a more awesome life. Pace and Kyeli (the forces behind The Connection Revolution) have put together this comprehensive and yet accessible course that aims to bring more awesomeness into the world…one person at a time.

The Prize

Pace and Kyeli have happily offered the opportunity for someone a slot in the 52 Weeks to Awesome course! I’d try to explain all of the details, but they do a much better job of it right here. This is your only chance to register for the course at this point of the year – registration is closed so this exclusive opportunity is only open to WorkAwesome readers and/or listeners — and it gets underway in January.

How to Enter

To win this exclusive giveaway, leave a comment on this post telling us what awesome work you did in 2010 and what work do you plan to make awesome in 2011.

Make sure you use a valid email address with your comment, so we can let you know you’ve won.

Conditions

  • Employees and contractors of Envato, past and present, are not eligible.
  • I will select the winner at my sole discretion, based on how awesome I think the entries are. The “awesomer”, the better.
  • Entries close at 11:59 pm on December 31, 2010, Australian Time Zone (which means I have to be on my toes since I’m in North America myself!). The winning entrant will be notified shortly thereafter, but not on that day…because it’s New Year’s Eve.
  • You must be 18 or above to enter.

Happy Holidays!

I obtained a bachelor’s degree in informatics from Titu Maiorescu University from Romania at the beginning of this year and just a couple of days ago I finished my second bachelor (thesis project) in computer engineering and I’ll obtain a second bachelor’s degree from Southern Denmark University from Denmark in January. I also finished 3rd semester in Multimedia Design at Syddansk Erhvervsskole.

It was so much fun and hard work to make everything in the same time (I’m not even sure if I was allowed to do this).

I also opened my own company in September and I plan on making extraordinary things in 2011 with a few awesome people. I also plan getting an AP degree in Multimedia Design in the summer, as well as I plan moving to another city, meeting new people and so on…

2010 was one of the most rewarding year I ever had in my life, and it wasn’t easy, but I enjoyed it as much as I could. I wish everyone merry Christmas and a happy and awesome new year!!!

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas everybody!

The awesome thing I did in 2010 was that I illustrated two children’s books for Scholastic.

In 2011 I hope to turn an idea I’ve had for a couple of years into an animated short film. Also illustrating some more children’s books would be fun too. And in the spirit of Christmas I would like to contribute my creative skills to a worth while cause to help people who are less fortunate.

This year was marked by transitions and seasonal change. Looking at my shifting roles as both of my children entered school and I have been working half-time their entire lives while also running a family business, I wanted to make this new season meaningful and purposeful, not simply a void of space to be filled with soap operas and bonbons.

Through working in a small business and managing all of the technical aspects of the business, I realized that most small businesses in our area have horrible web presence if they even have one to begin with. It has become my passion to help small businesses navigate their online identity.

This fall I started my side venture and have helped three small businesses grow their online reputations, and I started going to the gym for the first time in 10 years. I look forward next year to continuing to push the limits of my technical and marketing knowledge to help other businesses thrive in the new digital economy.

During 2010 I really took control of my job after the first year was really exploratory. I designed and launched a new email newsletter for potential students (I work in a college admissions office) and dove deeper into the world of Facebook pages and groups for said students. Increasing advertising and looking for “best fit” students is underway, and I look most forward to better email segmentation and streamlining of processes for gathering leads and walking students through the entire application process.

What I did… I spent 2010 as a public servant. I trained a lot of new cops, trained a lot of not so new cops, made a lot of personal impacts with coworkers and customers. I served my community diligently.

What I want to do… In 2011, I will continue to serve my community, but I also want to open my own business. I’m launching a line of t-shirts. I will be using the profits to hopefully fund the building of a well and support our local Families of Deceased Officers group and our local MADD chapter.

I want to be more awesome. I want to facilitate life change in those around me.

Merry Christmas and thank you for this opportunity!

2010 was a busy year for me. I got started in working online, primarily through my blog, which opened up a plethora of opportunities for me. I also started my Junior year at university, overloading on credits, taking over 20 a quarter, and also contracting with, and taking classes through, the US Army. I’ve learned a ton this past year – from languages (Russian, primarily), to leadership and being able to truly help others.

2011 is geared up to be an even better year than last. I hope to improve my blog and online business, go to Airborne school and jump out of some airplanes, and hopefully get some physical products up on the market. This is going to be a tough year for me – with the army, financial issues, and more, but I know that with the dedication to follow through with my plans, I can make anything happen. 🙂

The most awesome thing I did in 2010 was to give birth to a baby. I took time off from work and then went back part time.

In 2011, I plan on going back to working full time and have already started working on my master plan.

Still need plenty of help with to make it truly awesome!

The most awesome thing for me this year would be my annual university festival, Anugoonj.

My society was chosen to organize the festival’s round at my college. It was a month of full work, many hurdles were their in between, and many hiccups during the 2 day event too. But in the end, we were able to pull off the best ever at our college. (best ever, these were the words of my college’s Principal..!!)

And then to add cherry to the cake, I cleared all the rounds and made it to the final of the grand event which was in the university where more than 100 college participated and was successful in bringing first ever dramatics prize for our college.

I won at the grandest of the stage and yes, it was first ever honor in dramatics for my college. It was really awesome…

I’m enjoying reading all the comments here! You guys have some pretty awesome stories.

I wish you a Happy New Year!

2010 has been a wonderful year for me. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur but could not start it due to various factors during all my 10 years of career. I always wanted to do something different, creative and fun. I wanted to create a brand which speaks itself and people perceive it well.

You know what I did? I started listing down what I wanted to do. Because I read that, writing the things down really works. I used various tools available online (for easy management). I used Twitter (private), Penzu, LifeTick, Google Notebook etc. You don’t believe this thing has worked well! Now I have developed a vision and setup goals (both short term and long term) and started taking the action. They are working! I have started my own firm and started building the portfolio and working on some client projects. It was tough initially to break the comfort zone, to decide to leave a job with considerably huge salary, to get ready to take the ‘risk’. It all happened in 2010 and I would say that’s just awesome and a BIG change! Though it was just a small idea initially, I could see it growing. “SWEET Interactive” is the company I am creating.

Now, I want to take SWEET to a higher level in 2011. We are a team of 2 now. We want to give shape to the web product ideas we have finalized in 2011 (2 of them). We also want to take up selected client projects and deliver them successfully. Well, we have the plan ready!

Your website has been wonderful and I am a regular reader. Good Job!

Is it sad that I can’t think of anything truly “awesome” that I did this year? This is why I need this course. Such a great name too.

    • Courtney on the 28th December

      How silly of me!

In 2010, I got married. *That* is pretty awesome. And while it may not seem like “work” – trust me it was! I planned a fantastic, recession-friendly party and all our friends and family had a blast.

In 2011, I intend to get my “awesome” back. It shouldn’t take sitting here with my think-face on for 5 minutes to come up with ONE awesome thing I did in the past 365 days. I need to fix that.

I’ve got some soul-searching to do.
I’ve got some things to conquer.
I’ve got a marathon finish line with my name on it.
      I’m bringing awesome back. (Yeah!)

  12. Elizabeth Williams on the 28th December

In 2010, my Awesome Work was landing the position of Official Photographer for the TEDxNJLibraries conference at the Princeton Public Library in Princeton, NJ–and then being asked to return to photograph the local TEDWomen speakers in December and to speak about social media at an event in October. Doing those jobs not only helped get my name out there in an affluent town, but it also directly lead me to land some gigs and get some loyal followers of my photography.

Next year, I hope to engage this new community of followers to help grow a loyal and vocal group of evangelists for my Faced With Injustice (http://www.facedwithinjustice.melizabethwilliams.com) social justice portrait project.
