Finalizing Your Fridays

Finalizing Your Fridays

The week is coming to a close…only a few hours left.  You’re either madly rushing to get the things done you set out to do this week, or are in the midst of planning what you’d like to accomplish next week.  (Or perhaps you’re doing both.)

Not everyone finishes up their work week on a Friday, but a lot of people do.  Well, in theory they do.  They do in that they leave what’s left from the past week and slide it over to the next.  And the next.  And so on.

How many things are left as “open loops” on your to-do list when Friday draws to a close?  How many tasks are left unassigned?  Are you leaving this week with a sense of completion and ready to go into the next week with a fresh set of goals and accomplishments to achieve?

Do you “finalize” your Fridays?

    I currently don’t work fridays 🙂

      I have something somewhat similar.

I don’t go to the office on fridays but I work at home, which is always better, of course.

The only thing I finalize on fridays is my inbox. I always try to have zero unread and unanswered email when I leave work on a friday.

It works and it feels great 🙂

  3. I only take a Sunday off. I work on Saturdays too.

So, as such, there are no tasks incomplete on Saturdays. As I really complete the tasks at hand, so that I can start new tasks on/from Monday.

So yeah, I do leave a week with a sense of accomplishment. I mean when I look back, I seem to have done quite a lot for a week.

So, Monday would be a fresh calling.

Yes and no. I work on Saturdays, too, but I leave that for the “fun work” whenever possible, not the crunch-down writing or heavy-duty research. So on Friday clean up the inbox, make sure I’ve done the necessary to meet my deadlines, and then let it go.
I work in a much more relaxed way on Saturday.. it lets me enjoy the weekend feeling while also meeting my insatiable need to be productive.
