stress less

The holidays are fast approaching and you know what that means: Stress! From carving a turkey to spending hours trapped in the mall picking out the perfect gift, this time of year can be a real headache. Seeing the stresses of the holiday season looming before them, many people just abandon the job search entirely during the fall and winter months.

While the holidays can be a stressful time of year, this stress doesn’t have to leech into your job search. With packed schedules of vacation time and travel, it’s likely your job hunt might be incorporating a video interview instead of a traditional face-to-face sit down. According to a recent survey by Office Team, six in ten companies are now using video interviews as part of their hiring process. Click Here to Read Article …

An Organized Office = Organized Brain and Business

Organized Office

A few years ago I landed a job working for the writer-directors of a movie. They were young, laid back, creative guys, and tended to be a bit messy and disorganized with their own office and work. As a consequence, I modeled myself after them and let my own workspace overflow with — well, let’s just call it inspiration.

Instead of filing things away and keeping my area clean and shiny, I had piles of artwork and paperwork stacked on the desk, under the desk, in boxes. At first it was because I was genuinely too busy to get to it, and I’d come into the position in the middle of production, with lots of work already there that I had nothing to do with. Later, I rationalized that I more or less knew where things were and that having everything out meant that it was easier to access. Yeah, not so much. Click Here to Read Article …

How to Keep Up with the Daily Grind

How to Keep Up with the Daily Grind

If your work gets you down and you feel what you’re doing every day is beneath you, how do you keep up with the daily grind?

I’ve been there. I was an intern working at a job that didn’t feel like it was contributing to the world’s wellbeing as much as pushing numbers around. I was there again when I started my first business, setting up web sites and getting caught up in the little stuff all the time.

I knew I had a lot more in me to give, but the day to day work I was doing was not of the calibre I knew it could be. But it was paying the rent and putting food on the table. Click Here to Read Article …

How to Love Your Cubicle

How to love your cubicle

More often than not, things in life are based on your perspective. If you are a wealthy person and you get what you feel is a meagre year-end bonus at work, it may upset you. To another worker who may work on the manufacturing floor at minimum wage, that bonus might be considered life-changing.

If you are an executive in a company and get demoted from the corner office to an office cubicle, you might end up being depressed and unmotivated as a result. If you are unemployed, get hired, and are given a cubicle for your office space, you love your cubicle regardless of the size of your office and are happy that there’s a stable paycheck coming in.
