Goals are better

[Don’t miss the cool giveaway at the end!]

The New Year period is now but a distant memory as we’ve approached the quarter mark of the calendar year. So too sadly, are most people’s New Year’s Resolutions.

Consistently, it seems to be something people are willing to attempt to undertake despite knowing fully well the likelihood of success is minimal at best. The question must therefore be asked: Why is it we get excited about resolutions? When you dissect it all, it really comes down to one word: Hope. Click Here to Read Article …

How to Remain Productive When Avoiding Work

remain productive

Sometimes I amaze myself at just how much work I can get done by trying to avoid other work. It’s not that I’m avoiding work altogether in such situations, but by avoiding certain tasks that I’m not particularly looking forward to doing, I somehow remain productive and find myself getting a lot of other things done in the process.

I’ve therefore learned that it’s not always best to push myself toward certain aspects of my work that I’m not looking forward to doing, instead choosing to focus on other work roles in which I can sustain productivity until I’m in “the mood” for the other work.  I learned this long ago when in school and I had a variety of coursework and subject matter to select from when studying and a variety of times and timeframes in which to conduct my studies. Episode 18 – Jason Womack: Work Awesome Podcast

On this week’s episode of the Work Awesome podcast (the first under new ownership, I might add), we start a new era. A new theme will greet listeners as they tune in, but a familiar voice can still be heard as host.

I continue my journey with this site in my new role as Podcast Prodigy, and every other week the Work Awesome podcast will bring tips, tricks, interviews and more. This week, I had the opportunity to speak with Jason Womack, noted productivity expert and author. Jason is one of the principals at The Womack Company, a company that aims to help those in all walks of business (and in life) “level up” their productivity.

Jason recently inked a book deal with Wiley Publishing, and his first book under its banner, Your Best Just Got Better, will hit bookshelves later in 2011.

We talk about New Year’s resolutions, the common misconceptions about GTD and even get into the real secret behind the methodology. This is an exclusive interview on the WorkAwesome podcast with the creator of GTD — and shouldn’t be missed.

Book Review: Get-It-Done Guy’s 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More

David Allen is known as the GTD Guy. Stever Robbins is known as the GID Guy. Both offer great insights on productivity using very different approaches. Both are also published authors, and Robbins’ latest book, Get-It-Done Guy’s 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More, hit bookstores a few weeks back. The book is a fairly light read, yet brimming with tips and information that are sprinkled with Robbins’ signature humor and style.
